Additional responsibility as an Associate Professor Extraordinaire in the Department of Horticultural Science at the Stellenbosch University. Through this association contract research is being conducted on various engineering, biological and systems projects within the fruit export value chain all aimed at improving the quality of produce and reducing costs.
Previous responsibility as Programme Manager of phase 1 of a public/private partnership the Post Harvest Innovation Programme.
Prior to this acted as a consultant to the PPECB and multi-nationals and local companies on atmosphere modification, cold chains and refrigeration techniques for long distance transportation of perishables.
Founded and managed Transfresh Africa the first company to successfully provide controlled atmosphere in shipping containers out of South Africa.
Prior to that spent 13 years as Manager of Research at Unifruco (now Capespan) Research Services (now Experico).
Lecturer at University of Witwatersrand in the Department of Botany with teaching responsibility for plant growth and development.
